The Founders’ Fundamentals and Values are the principles that Richard and Jay firmly believed in and practiced from the very beginning of Amway. These convictions have stood the test of time and offer a perspective that allows you to integrate and make sense of other viewpoints.
The Founders’ Fundamentals and Amway Values are timeless truths—the bedrock of the company’s development and the core of what Richard and Jay believed in. Independence was profoundly important to them, as was maintaining hope for the future. Of course, providing for their families remained their highest priority. It was with this vision that my father and Richard seized the opportunity and began building Amway.
When Richard and I started Amway from our basements, we carried a dream—a dream that everyone could have a business of their own. These Founders’ Fundamentals and Values are the same principles that societies have been built upon for centuries. Hope, Family, Freedom, and Reward reflect the deepest and most sincere beliefs that Richard and Jay held for the Amway opportunity. They were certain of their own convictions and clear about what these could offer others.
Amway’s goal has always been clear: to reach and help as many people as possible. Without principles, everything is at risk. The very reason the Founders’ Fundamentals and Values exist is to carry forward the legacy of my father and Richard.
The four Founders’ Fundamentals—Freedom, Family, Hope, and Reward—are the foundation of it all. That’s why they endure. You can’t easily replace a foundation, can you? These four beliefs act as pillars holding up the entire Amway enterprise.
We only truly attain freedom ourselves when we help others achieve it—freeing them to grow, explore, and realize their full potential.
We often say that Amway is a family business. We’ve always believed that by building Amway on the idea of family, we can help make the world a better place.
